instagram challenge 2

I’ve been participating in a 6-day food photography Instagram challenge hosted by Kimberly Espinel @thelittleplantation. The challenge runs over two weeks with three posts each week relating to a theme.

There are well over  2 000 entries from food photographers, food bloggers and food lovers all around the world. I joined the challenge mainly to learn from the photographers who produce some amazing content and to practise my own skills.  For me it is about investing time into my learning, development and creative growth. I had to consciously plan and set aside the time in my week (let’s face it, my weekend) to create, play and experiment. Luckily, this month there was a lot more time at home to be able to do this.

If you’re on Instagram and would like to see all the entries, check out #ecsqc.

So many of the entries have been A M A Z I N G !

I’m sharing my entries and a couple of extras too.

week 1 - that’s tasty

Theme 1 - salty, savoury or umami

There’s no better salty tast than that of Vegemite. Amiright? Smear it with butter on a fresh sourdough and I’m in carb heaven.

Theme 2 - sweet or spicy

These are sweet and fudgy and oh so chocolately!

week 2 - a look into my world

Theme 4 - morning rituals

My morning ritual usually involves a bowl of granola or groat oats and a drip of honey and coffee.

Theme 5 - simple pleasures

Simple pleasures - for me it’s getting out my mixmaster and whisking egg whites and sugar . This is followed by gently folding the mixture with a wooden spoon for a smooth and silky meringue.I was also playing around with moody light for this theme.

Theme 6 - my beating heart

What stops me in my tracks are images that are crisp and bright and fresh with gorgeous details.
